TIMINGS - U.A.E. is 4 hours ahead of GMT

TRAVEL to Dubai - The national carrier is Emirates, which flies to some 45 destinations in the Middle East, Europe, Australia, Africa and the Indian Subcontinent. There is no carnet system here. It is an 8 hour flight from London / Heathrow.

GETTING AROUND IN DUBAI: - Dubai has an excellent road system. Driving is on the right hand side of the road. Taxis are easily obtainable in Dubai. The Dubai Transport Corporation's ivory coloured cabs are fitted with fare meters. In the case of all other taxis, fares are subject to negotiation between driver and passenger.

CLIMATE / Weather - The local climate is sub-tropical, with a very high seasonal temperature variation. In summer (March to October) it is very hot, with temperatures around the 40 degrees Celsius (105 degrees Fahrenheit) mark during the day. Winters are much more bearable with a drop to 10 degrees Celsius (50 degrees Fahrenheit) at times.

WOMEN IN THE UAE - Dubai is by any measure a liberal society and is westernized. Women do still live independent lives and can drive and move about freely. Their dress code is also westernized and women are allowed to dress normally.

CURRENCY - AED is pegged to US Dollar at the rate of 3.68, currently trading to GBP Sterling at 6.1 AED
